A few suggestions to help your child have a fruitful and productive year in Catechesis:
  1. Please, be encouraging. Your child imitates your attitudes. Be enthusiastic about their participation.
  2. Please, be on time. We only have 30 mins each week and need all of it.
  3. Please, NO SNACKS. If your child needs to eat before class, please be sure they do so in the car and do not bring it into class. This has been a major distraction in the past.
  4. Read the “Reading Assignments” with your child each week
  5. Memorize with your child (make it a family event)
  6. Join us! Catechesis should really be a family affair. Notice two Parents' Days (10/31 and 2/20). But please feel free to attend more often than these!

Bible Trivia:
  • Bible Trivia classes will follow a game-show format.  The week before Bible Trivia day, the kids will bring home the questions (with their answers) that will be asked.
  • At the end of the year, we will have the 1st Annual Bible Trivia Finale

Extra Instruction – If you feel your child would benefit from one on one instruction, or you would like me to come by the house and explain more thoroughly what you can be doing to support your catechumen, please feel free to contact me.

Lesson Plan (total time: 1 hr):
  1. Recitation of memory work (either oral or written)—5 mins
  2. Introduction of following week's memory work—5 mins
  3. Lesson—20 mins
    1. Introduction to “Topic” (either Book of Bible or Section of Bible) from Handbook
    2. Bible Story “retelling” with theological applications
  4. Prayer Office and Choir (in church building)—30 mins
